Author Profile

Rose Inserra is a published children's author of over sixty books.

Her books are published by leading educational publishers as well as trade publishers, marketed in Australia and internationally. She has also written her best selling book, Dictionary of Dreams, which has sold over 500,000 copies.

As a former secondary school teacher of English and languages, Rose's main focus has been educational books, ranging from topics such as Australian Disasters to humorous short novels. She has been listed in the Notable Australian Children's Books and shortlisted for the Environment Award for Children's Literature in Australia.

Rose combines her passion for children's writing with other activities.

In 1998, she was author-in-residence at the Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne, giving writing workshops to chronically ill adolescents. With the help of teaching staff at the hospital and the public relations office, as well as editing from Rose, a book titled "Sick Humour" was published, featuring the works of young hospital patients.

She loves author visits, especially to country schools where students don't usually have the opportunity to meet authors. Children bring out the ‘child within' and Rose has a file filled with plots and ideas for her next children books' series.

The dream book has given her awareness of the importance of self discovery through understanding dreams and she will be writing further on this fascinating topic. Stay tuned.
